Billing Manager performs a number of essential functions before generating invoices and claims:
Charge Determination — calculating the item charge by processing charge data from source systems against billing rules in the Contract Library. For example, the rules may consider type of service, specialty, ward class, patient status, intensity of treatment, admission source, and age.
Price Determination — calculating the item billing for invoices and claims by processing payor account and price data against the billing rules in the Contract Library. The price tables allow multiple pricing for any item based on certain criteria, eg account payor or insurance status.
Billing Manager also supports concepts such as Medicare bulk billing, simplified billing and point-of-care billing. Charge capture can be via interfaces to other systems or from hand-held devices used by clinicians at the bedside.
