Coding Auditor supports a simple and straightforward auditing process:

1. Sampling
The system administrator prepares the data for audit:
Import the episodic data
Optionally filter the data to reduce the number of records
Generate a smaller statistical sample dataset from the episodic data, using either a random or a stratified method.

2. Auditing
The auditors perform the auditing:
Coding — The auditor codes each episode record in the sample dataset.

Grouping — The system automatically calculates the HRG for each episode record is, based on the episode’s ICD clinical codes.

Comparing — The auditor reviews each record individually using the double-column layout to compare the auditor codes against the original codes. Differences are highlighted using a color system. The auditor then summarises the errors found for that record, for analysis reporting.
3. Reporting
The results from the audit process can be viewed through many different reports, which allow progressive drill-downs on the information — from a high level summary down to the individual patients and ICD codes.
